Our Vision For The Future

Spring sunset over the plains

Sunset over the Texas plains can be a beautiful sight to behold, as yo u can see from the photo above. At the Downtown Medicine Mound Preservation Group, we believe the sun should never set on our humble beginnings. As we march toward the future, so must we remember our colorful past. Much like the so-called "Greatest Generation", the folks that came to settle Hardeman County and Medicine Mound were a hardy, resilient, resourceful bunch. From the simple life of the sharecropper to the enterprising merchants of the day, each family had a colorful, shared history. That history lives on at the Medicine Mound Museum.

Rehabilitation - The Best Alternative To Restoration

The old Cole building might be considered the "original strip mall" - gas station, bank, post office, and community gathering spot all rolled into one building. The Downtown Medicine Mound Preservation Group has some specific ideas for this historic building. If you'd like to read more, click here or on the Cole Bldg. link at left.

The Medicine Mound Museum

Amongst all the artifacts that Myna has collected over the years, one of the greatest assets is the priceless collection of historic photographs. We estimate it will take about two years to scan, restore, and archive all these photographs for posterity. Organizing all the artifacts of the museum into interesting exhibits will require new display techniques as well. To find out how we intend to accomplish all this, click here or on the Museum link at left.

Digital Archives

With all the advances in technology and digital imaging it is now possible to create electronic (digital) archives of many artifacts in our collections and easily document our projects on the Internet. To learn how we intend to produce and share all these items with the world, click here or on the Archives link at left.
