As we all know, the education of a physician is one of the longest modes of schooling. Out of all the people that long to be physicians when they are younger, the long course of schooling is one of the factors that deters them from actively pursuing this endeavor. Prospective physicians are to complete four years of undergraduate studies while majoring in Pre-med, or another related medical field. Fro there, those that want to become physicians must pass the Medical College Admissions Test, which is most commonly referred to as the MCAT. Prospective physicians do not have to get a perfect score, but the highest score possible is encouraged from test takers.

This is because the next step for those that pass the test, and want to become a physician, is medical school. Students are to have narrowed down their choices to a few medical schools that they would like to attend as soon as when they enter their undergraduate studies. It is often found for those that want to be a physician, that the medical school that was originally decided upon is no longer at the top of their list when they approach the time in which they are to make a concrete decision where they will go. A few factors seem to get in the way of the minds and the visions of the prospective physicians. One of the reasons is because he or she has not scored as honorably on the MCAT as he or she would have liked, so therefore, chances are slim that he or she will be able to enter that school. There are a number of prospective physicians that decide that they are going to apply to that school anyway. Another reason why the prospective physician will decide that he or she is going to shift gears and not go to this particular medical school any longer is because he or she has decided that they would like to shift their focus in the medical industry. The type of physician that they are looking to be warrants that they go to a medical school that offers a program that is best in line with their revised career goals.

When it is time to enter the medical school of the physician student’s choice for which they have been selected to attend, that physician student has a great deal of work ahead of himself or herself. This is not to say that the schooling can not be completed, but this is to say that the prospective physician will have to put forth tremendous effort in order to rise to the top of their class. After successfully completing medical school, and the physician student has received his or her Masters degree, it is on to the residency. The residency is the time and the place where prospective physicians work for an established physician in order to get practical training.
