Bill Neal - the consummate storyteller
The Downtown Medicine Mound Preservation Group is fortunate to have
gathered a diverse cross-section of folks to serve on our Board
of Directors, each with a particular area of expertise and talent
that compliments the others. One such person is Bill Neal.

Not
only has Bill had a
interesting
and colorful career as a district attorney and a "country lawyer",
he has contributed volumes (literally) to our
knowledge of the times and the area that was Medicine Mound
and Hardeman county. No matter the particular subject, Mr.
Neal has a knack for telling a story in a most engaging
way that draws the reader into the scene and the lives of
these frontier characters. If you are even remotely intrigued
Texas history or the real-life stories of the pioneers,
you'll want to get these books ! You'll devour the material,
then come back to read it again and again. Our Stories is considered the definitive work on Medicine Mound history,
and we have no doubt that Getting Away With Murder will
achieve even greater acclaim.
Shown at left with his lovely wife, Gayla, Mr. Neal has been
busy signing copies of his new book at various local venues.

Our Stories - Legends of the Mounds is a unique compilation of stories
and photos of the early settlers of Medicine Mound and the surrounding
area. Even if you didn't know who these folks were, you'll enjoy
this intimate glimpse into the lives and hardships of our forefathers
and their families. You can order it directly from Amazon.com
by clicking here.

If you thought Texas politics
was intriguing, you'll be thoroughly entertained by Bill's
latest tome, entitled Getting Away With Murder On The
Texas Frontier - Notorious Killings and Celebrated Trials.
While the stories themselves are riveting, the book also
gives us a unique perspective into the evolution of the
frontier justice system and the lives of some "ordinary"
outlaws. You can order it directly from Amazon.com by clicking
